Halloween Fun!!

This week at Little Dreamers we've been busy decorating our classrooms and getting into the spooky spirit in preparation for our Halloween Harvest Party, happening this Friday!!! All of the students are VERY excited to wear their costumes and to Trick or Treat for yummy treats around our Parking Lot! All week we've been reading scary stories (not too scary) and singing spooky songs!  We've made pumpkins and hand-print spiders, we've decorated our very own Friendly Ghosts and made sponge-paint bats! On Friday we'll display all of our creations and put the final touches on our classroom decorating.   Parents are welcome to stop by and celebrate with us (around 11am) and to see their little trick-or-treaters in action!  Please note the Party sign-up sheet near the front door and feel free to bring in something yummy for our class.  Thank you for your help!

A is for Apple!!

This week at Little Dreamers we learned all about Apples!!! We learned all about where and how Apples grow, we tasted locally grown apples and apple sauce and learned about all the ways that Apples can be used!  Our projects this week included making Apple prints with real apples and cookie cutters, making bushy Apple Trees out of tissue paper and preparing our classroom for next week's Harvest Festivities!! Pre-school made Hand-print spiders to spook-ify our room while our Toddlers and Infants read Halloween Touch and Feel stories and used their senses!!  Remember to get your costumes ready for next Friday's Harvest Party! Parents, feel free to join in on the fun- to come see your child Trick or Treat around our shopping center and to join in on the celebration in the classroom!!!  There will be a sign up sheet near the front door for goodies and surprises for the kids.  Thank you for your help and cooperation in making this a spooktacular Halloween Party!

'Tis the Season- A note for keeping your little one Healthy!

As I'm sure you've noticed... 'tis the season for runny noses and coughs.  Keeping your child as healthy as possible is the goal on every one's mind but as we all know, is sometimes just impossible.  If your little one comes down with a green, icky nose or a cough... we ask that you PLEASE keep them home.  Germs spread fast in schools and daycare centers and even though we pride ourselves on being over-the-top clean... kids spread germs quickly.   In order to keep all of our friends and teachers healthy we ask that you take the time to get well before bringing your child in with a cold.

Our centers policy is that when a child is sent home with a fever, a cough or for not feeling well you will be asked to provide a doctors note before their return and/or a copy of a prescription.  It is a PA State requirement that all children who are sick are to be sent home in order to prevent illnesses from spreading and running rampant through school settings.  In addition, once your child is seen by a doctor.. please allow 24 hours for antibiotics to kick in to ensure that all viruses and bacteria are under control.

Thank you so much for your cooperation in keeping your child and our center GERM FREE! :)

Welcome Back Parents!

Today at Little Dreamers it was "All about Me!"  Today we talked as a class about our favorites! Favorite colors, favorite animals, favorite foods... you name it! We made posters depicting our favorite things and shared them together during circle time! We reviewed our colors with a special Color Matching game and started focusing on our literacy skills with the Letter A.  Please review this letter with your child and encourage them to name "A" words like Apple, Ant and to name their friends... like Allie! :)

Our Toddlers had a great time playing outside today (before the Rain started).  They got some of their energy out by playing with the cars and trucks on the playground and by watching the big kids play house.  Our little Infants spent the morning with Miss Eva- playing together and learning how to explore their new world at school.  Overall, it was a great day here at Little Dreamers!!

Happy Birthday Gio!- 10/13/10

Hi Parents!

Today in the Preschool room we had a serious birthday celebration for Gio!!! :)  Gio turned 3 today and we had a party complete with yummy cupcakes, party hats and even goody bags (a big Thank you tp mom, dad and Grandma)!  Everyone had a wonderful time and after eating all of those cupcakes... had a LOT of energy!  :)  We had a dance party to the music from Shrek 2-  Sarah showed us her very best moves and Gio sang along into a microphone.  This morning we all made birthday cards for Gio and (with Miss Jessica's help) wrote him a message inside.  Jimmy told Gio that he was a great friend and Allie made him a pink card (because it's her very favorite color).  During circle time we read a story about Barnyard animals called "In the Mud" and reviewed our colors with "Brown Bear, Brown Bear."  It was a very busy day for the preschool class but we had tons of fun.

In the Toddler room today our little explorers made beautiful sunflowers with yellow finger paint! Miss Donna helped glue on some real sunflower seeds and the projects turned out beautifully! The Toddlers and Infants sang song during circle time today and made music using the instruments in the classroom.  They are all adjusting so well to their new routine.  We couldn't be more proud!

It was a great day here at Little Dreamers.... thanks for checking in!

Love,
Miss Jessica
