Let it Snow!

Parents,

This week was all about Ice and Snow!  Our infants used their little hands and made beautiful snowflake ornaments for our tree.  This week's sign is "Snow" and they've been singing 'Frosty the Snowman' and 'Five little Snowflakes' and have been reading books like the "Christmas Angel" and "Icicles and Snowflakes!"  In our Toddler classroom, our little ones have been hard at work making their family Christmas presents.  They look beautiful so far and are sure to be a one-of-a-kind keepsake.  Also, they've made beautiful snowflakes to decorate their classroom and have been talking about snowmen all week! Preschool has been learning all about water and ice.  We've talked about what needs to happen in order for snow to be made...Jimmy figured out that Snow was frozen and cold!  Allie said that it was cold when it snowed and that it must mean that Snow is cold Rain!  Our little Dreamers are SO smart!!   This week preschool made Giant Snowmen, hand cut snowflakes, and a bunch of Christmas ornaments for our tree!  We made beautiful snowflake ornaments, hand print Santa ornaments and now we're switching over to our Holiday Unit and getting ready for next week's Holiday Polar Party!!!  We can't wait for all of the excitement!

It's Winter Time Again!!!

Dear Parents,

Sorry for the delay in posts... our Internet has been down and its been awhile since I've updated the site.  But, finally... a much needed update!

December is here and 'Tis the Season!!! This month we'll be learning all about Winter and getting ready to kick off the Holiday Season!  To begin this month, we'll start with a unit on Cooking and Baking.  We'll learn about measuring, about how food cooks and talk about our favorite Holiday Treats! In week 2 we'll learn about how the seasons change... we'll introduce our little ones to the upcoming snowy season and learn about where Snow comes from!  We'll learn about water and what makes Ice and steam.  We'll talk about melting, freezing and evaporating and what causes all of those changes to happen!  We'll talk about the weather and how we can prepare for the approaching cold with warm clothes and we'll even practice dressing ourselves in our winter garb! We'll read the 'Polar Express' and celebrate with Hot Cocoa! We've decorated our classroom with Snowmen, snowflakes and gingerbread men so far and have a ton of upcoming crafts on the way!! This week our unit will change to Ice and Snow! Take a walk through our classrooms and look at all of our beautiful artwork!
